Performance Objectives
In 1962, Robert Mager published his book, Preparing Instructional Objectives on the construction of performance objectives. An objective describes in measurable terms of who an objective targets, the behavior they will exhibit, the conditions or limitations under which they must carry out this behavior, and the criteria against which their behavior will be gauged.
Performance or learning objectives are often defined as the task (behavior), condition, and standard. For example,“"From memory, list the three requirements of a well-stated performance objective without error.”
- Task - list the three requirements of a well-stated performance objective
- Condition - from memory
- Standard - without error
